Fishing on the River Drau

Fishing enthusiast is proud about his catch in the Drau at Berg im Drautal

For anglers, fishermen and water sports lovers the outdoor trend is nothing new, but maybe you have yet to discover the rich fishing waters of the River Drau. The rugged but romantic River Drau in the Carinthian uplands is one of the few stretches of river that still remain without barrages and hydroelectric power stations, and for that very reason it is a well-guarded secret for fishermen and anglers.

If you want to fish for greyling and trout, we offer our guests exclusive access to a 2.5 km stretch of the Drau between Berg and Greifenburg (5 km of riverbanks). We would be delighted to keep your catch chilled or frozen at the Hotel until your departure. We can also prepare your catch in the Glocknerhof kitchen by request. Please note: fishing for the native Danube salmon, the largest predatory river fish in Central Europe, is only allowed in winter (up to 31 January).
